The Research, Development and Evaluation Commission was established in 1969. It serves as a staff organization for policy coordination and integration for the Executive Yuan. Specifically, RDEC is responsible for policy research and development, policy planning, policy supervision and evaluation, government’s IT management, circulation of government publications, archives and other tasks assigned by the prime minister.
In accordance with the vision of “Being a facilitator for good governance,” we have four strategic goals：1) Re-vitalizing public information and knowledge to upgrade government’s strategic thinking; 2) Enhancing policy coordination and implementing reorganization to make government a more integrated organization; 3) Promoting transparency to help citizens to participate more fully in public affairs, and 4) Advancing results-oriented performance management to achieve government accountability.
Since being commissioned, RDEC has made significant innovations and contributions to government regulations, decision processes, information transparency, e-government and archives management. Under the policy direction of the Executive Yuan, RDEC will continue to improve government’s governance; including its management capability, transparency, citizens’ participation, and future accountability. By doing this, we hope to establish a highly effective and responsible government, thus increasing our national competitiveness.
